Apple is most likely to offer cheaper iMac desktop in 2014, according to a fearless forecast of KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo told the 9to5 Mac that the new cheaper iMac desktop is currently in the works. He also believes that this strategy to lower the cost will amplify iMac shipments by 10 to 20 percent in general year over year in 2014.
As of the moment, the tech giant’s most affordable iMac, which measures 21.5 inches, costs $1,299.
Kuo, who is very accurate when it comes to foretelling Apple’s product plans beforehand, said fewer-than-expected iMacs were sold worldwide after it was restructured with a redesign in late 2012. He thinks the said iMacs were too pricey and that led the company to work on a new and low-priced iMac model that will help boost shipments and sales even in outside of the United States.
Late last month, Apple surprised a lot of tech-savvy consumers with a refresh to its iMac lineup. Its latest desktops showcased an 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Intel’s Haswell Central Processing Units (CPUs), and GeForce 700-series graphics.
The analyst also said on his Saturday note that Apple is also brewing the third generation iPad mini that is also anticipated to be released in 2014. However, details on the upcoming model is still lacking because the second generation iPad mini has yet to be make known.
Kuo also told Apple Insider that the second generation iPad mini, which will be launched on October 22, will have a high-resolution Retina display. And since it will feature as such, he expects that the third generation will feature a similar resolution or it would be better if it’s better than that.
