It looked like a miracle when S.H.I.E.L.D. rolled their resident psychologist, Dr. Andrew Garner, into headquarters after he survived Hydra recruit Werner von Strucker's attempt to blow him up.
But Strucker's dying words to Agent May on last week's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." revealed that Andrew survived the blast for much more sinister reasons - he turned into the beastly Inhuman, Lash, and May will have no other choice but to confront her ex immediately about this new information.
Andrew won't confess to this secret easily, though. In a sneak peek at next week's "S.H.I.E.L.D." episode, May lays out the evidence that he is killing Inhumans as his alter ego and when she pushes too far, Andrew pulls a gun on her.
Watch the scene ignite below (via IGN):
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents got their first look at Lash when he attacked their transport vehicle carrying the only other person who had communicated with the Inhuman beast. In a telling moment, Lash didn't kill Daisy despite her Inhuman status.
Too hard for Andrew/Lash to kill someone he knows personally?
“We will definitely learn his motivations,” executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen and Jeffrey Bell told Entertainment Weekly. “We hope to explore some gray areas morally, as we are wont to do. You will eventually come to understand what drives him and possibly sympathize with his position.”
Tune into "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ABC to see if Andrew comes clean about his Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde personality.
