The Million Mask March, conducted by members of the group Anonymous and sympathizers, resulted in violence Thursday in central London, according to The International Business Times.
Thousands of protesters took part in the march, and the scene ended with the arrest of 50 people, the burning of a police vehicle, and three police officers taken to the hospital, CNN reported. Six police horses also suffered injuries.
The protest was held on a night that is usually celebrated with bonfires to honor Guy Fawkes' failed bid to blow up the British parliament in 1605, according to NBC news. The march began from the Trafalgar Square and went passed Downing Street, where the prime minister lives before finally arriving at the House of Parliament. "We're here for equality, against censorship and we believe we should be one people," a protester dressed as Jesus said.
"Anonymous stands for freedom. We all have the right to protest, we have the right to a free life. We have the right for the government being open with us and telling us what they're doing. Everyone should be equal, they shouldn't be higher. They shouldn't be able to look down on us. They shouldn't be allowed to treat us like criminals," another protester said.
