Kim Fields might be the newest addition to the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast, but she's no stranger to television. The "Facts of Life" and "Living Single" actress opened up to E! News and discussed why she finally decided to make the transition into reality TV by joining the season eight cast of Bravo's "RHOA."
"We've been asked to do reality TV for years, and it just wasn't the right timing, the right opportunity," she told E! News.
"It's really interesting and that's one of the many reasons why I decided to do this, because it's such an adventure. It's something different," Fields continued. "If you're going to look up and celebrate 40 years of doing something, at this point, for me at least, the next logical progression is what's challenging? What's new? What's different?"
The 44-year-old sitcom star allowed Bravo's cameras into her home to document her life for season eight of "RHOA," and her husband Christopher Morgan and their two sons, 8-year-old Sebastian Alexander and 2-year-old Quincy Xavier, are also part of the show. She said that her biggest concern about doing reality TV was the portrayal of her family and about the affect the cameras would have on her children.
"We weren't terribly concerned with how to raise our children in this environment," Fields said, "our biggest thing was the cameras aren't there. You don't change who you are and what you do and how you know you're raised just because somebody is there with a camera."
