Rick Perry To Appear In Anti-Washington Advertisements Amid Government Shutdown

Texas Governor Rick Perry will appear in anti-Washington advertisements funded by an advocacy group that will promote "conservative governors" as leaders during the government shutdown, POLITICO reported.

Americans for Economic Freedom, a conservative nonprofit, will feature their advertisements for ten days on Fox, MSNBC, and CNBC in addition to nationally syndicated radio shows. In the commercials, Perry speaks about Republican state executives outside of the nation's capital.

The six figure ads will begin Tuesday and focus on the government shutdown.

"Washington needs to change, but the president keeps playing politics," Perry says. "Conservative leadership is putting people back to work, and families are building their futures. We need more of that and less of Washington."

The former presidential candidate also highlights balancing state budgets and "reforming taxes and regulations" as conservative accomplishments.

On their website, Americans for Economic Freedom claim the answer to our country's problem will not be found in D.C.

"The answers to our nation's economic woes are not going to be found in Washington, D.C. They will be found in the states that are thriving because of conservative leadership like Arizona, Texas and Florida.

Americans across this great country are looking for results and are finding them in states that foster an economic environment that promotes low-taxes, fair and predictable regulations, and a fair legal environment. Join Americans for Economic Freedom today."

The conservative group is a longtime supporter of Perry, who said he will not run for re-election in Texas but has yet to officially deny a run for president. In September, Perry spoke in Missouri to promote the nonprofit group.

"Competition is what drives us to be better, whether it's on the baseball field tonight or whether it's in the Capitol," Perry said to a crowd of supporters. "Competition will make you take a look at your policies."
