A new update on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann from a hotel room in Portugal six years ago, and an appeal airing tonight on BBC's "Crimewatch" bring hope to British Police who are after two suspects for questioning, ABC News reported.
Since Madeline was abducted in May of 2007 in the Portuguese town of Praia da Luz where the McCann's were vacationing, 40,000 pieces of evidence have been collected to produce two e-fit images of the man suspected to have taken Maddy from the hotel room, News.au.com reported.
The two images are of the same man being described by witnesses; both images show a white man, age between 20-40 years old with short brown hair, with a medium build and height, according to News.au.com. The suspect was seen around the vacation area around 10 p.m.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood, who is leading the investigation, told ABC News today that "it is vital that we identify who he is."
According to ABC News, witnesses saw this man walking away from the vacation apartment carrying a young child who could have been wearing pajamas around the same time Madeline's mother realized she was missing.
"There may be an entirely innocent explanation of this man, but we need to establish who he is to assist with our enquiries," Inspector Redwood told ABC News.
A public appeal will be aired today on a BBC's "Crimewatch" in hopes it will trigger new leads, ABC News reported. The appeal will be broadcast in four countries including Holland and Germany.
ABC News reports the appeal will show interviews with the McCann family, a 25-minute reconstruction by actors of the events leading up to Madeleine's disappearance as well as more computer generated images of other men who were seen in and around Praia da Luz in the days before and on the day of Madeleine's disappearance.
According to News.au.com, British police are also hunting two German or Dutch speaking men who were placed at the scene of Maddie's disappearance six years ago. It's not yet confirmed whether the two men are linked to the e-fit photo's released by the police.
