LG G Flex Rumors: New Leaked Photos Show Different Curve Than Samsung's Galaxy Round (PHOTOS)

Earlier this month, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Round smartphone, which showcased a flexible display that fit into a smartphone on a curve meant to fit the contours of the human palm. Since that announcement, LG has been rumored to be working on a similar flexible display device all its own, the G Flex. Now leaked images show a prototype of the device.

According to images picked up by Engadget, the device will differ heavily from Samsung's Galaxy Round in one key way, the way in which the device bends. The LG G Flex has its dip in the center on the horizontal axis whereas the Galaxy Round bends on the vertical axis.

Daily Mail reports the design is 0.44mm thick and has a protective film attached to the back making it "bendable and unbreakable," according to the company. It's vertical concave from top to bottom has a radius of 7cm and weighs roughly 7.2g.

The device, like the Galaxy Round, is not expected to be able to bend in your hand. When the term "flexible" display refers only to the screen, which can still function as a touch screen but bend. However, it will be fixed into the device, so if your dream was to have a phone you could wrap around your hand, you'll be out of luck. Instead, the design is meant to fit the palm more easily. However, it will be a matter of opinion as to which concave people will respond to more in terms of hand comfort.

LG claims the flexible OLED panel is the "World's slimmest among existing mobile device panels."

The company's new battery technology could also revolutionize smsartphones because it is so flexible it can be tied in knots. In addition, Daily Mail speculates that it could improve the battery life of all phones once they are unencumbered by display size and shape.
