Two Britons were killed in Bulgaria after an avalanche of rocks rained down, crushing the two, according to the Detroit News.
Katia Pavlova and a man that was reportedly her friend were traveling on vacation in Bulgaria. On their way to the Krushuna waterfalls, they stopped to take their picture on a rope bridge nearby.
As they were taking the photos, an estimated "7,000 cubic feet of rock" fell on top of the two, burying them alive, according to the Daily Mail.
"It was perfect weather, there was no rain, it was sunny all day. I don't have an idea why it happened," said Viktor Dzhonev, who operates a guest house near the attraction. "The man and woman were under the cliffs. Another woman was taking a picture of them with a camera when it happened. A small piece of rock hit her but she got away."
The woman who managed to escape was allegedly a Bulgarian friend who had come to visit the two. She was not in critical condition when she was admitted to the hospital. After the incident she was able to sound the alarm.
The search for the pair lasted for two days before they were found, according to Focus.
Pavlova was a married mother of two. She was 45 years old.
