'Pokemon X And Y' Gamplay: The Basics You SHOULD Know Including Where To Find Pikachu (VIDEO)

"Pokémon X and Y" is the latest installment in the series, and there are a lot of goodies in store for gamers.

There is believed to be 718 species of Pokémon total in the game (subject to change), and that number does not include their variant forms. Now that you have your hands on the game, you should know its basics (especially if you're new to the series) provided in this IGN 'primer for begginers' list:

What is Pokémon?: "A short description of what Pokémon are and what can be found in the Pokémon games."

Catching Pokémon: "Tips on catching Pokémon in the wild."

Raising Pokémon: "All Pokémon grow, and most evolve. This section talks about experience points and evolution."

Pokémon Battles: "The ins and outs of Pokémon Battles, including the various types of battles available in Pokémon X and Y."

Starter Pokémon: "Choose one of three Pokémon to start your adventure. This page will inform you on what each Pokémon specializes in, and where to find both -- that's right BOTH -- Starter Pokémon."

Pokémon Centers: "The most visited building in Pokémon. Free health care for all!

In-Game Time: The time within the game changes with your 3DS clock. Make sure it's set right, and see what changes are present in Kalos."

Trainer Customization: "For the first time ever, Pokémon Trainers can be customized in a number of ways. See what's available and where to change things up."

The number one Pokémon you're probably wanting at the moment is Pikachu, who is not featured as a starter Pokémon in the game.

Pikachu will be especially useful to you because of its two early capabilities: Static and Lightning rod. Static has a 30% chance to paralyze an enemy that physically attacked Pikachu, according to Geek.com.

Now, the question remains: where do I find Pikachu? The gamers at IGN made the following video outlining where to find the Pokémon. Check it out below and be sure to take the time to get Pikachu as he will be a great asset to your team.
