The super PACs supporting Sen. Ted Cruz are abandoning plans to buy TV advertisements until well into the primary season. The four groups of political donors are saving their money for ads until March or April, according to CNN.
Cruz's campaign is supported by Keep the Promise, a political action committee founded by Texas investor Toby Neugebauer that raised $38 million for him so far, according to CNN. The group planned to buy television advertisements, but after Neugebauer met with Cruz and his staffers, the plans were cancelled, according to CNN.
The delay might hurt Cruz because he needs the visibility to remain viable in the Republican presidential race. He runs a distant third behind Donald Trump and Ben Carson in polls, according to Public Policy Polling. Despite the lack of TV time, Cruz is confident that Keep The Promise and Neugebauer will continue supporting him.
"He is an extraordinarily talented leader - a hugely successful businessman, a mega-fundraiser and a proven political visionary," said Chad Sweet, Cruz's campaign chairman, according to CNN.
Cruz maintains that his political war chest is just waiting for the right time to release advertisements to voters. "We are saving our resources very deliberately to use where they have the maximum impact," said Cruz, according to Politico.
