Self-proclaimed "Star Wars" super fan Daniel Fleetwood, who was suffering from a rare form of cancer, has sadly passed away at age 32.
Fleetwood became a household name to "Star Wars" fans recently with his #ForceForDaniel social media campaign. The "Star Wars" supporter had asked to see an early cut of J.J. Abrams' "The Force Awakens" before his passing. Thanks to the support of fans and "Star Wars" insiders themselves (Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher), his wish was granted.
His wife, Ashley, announced his passing on her Facebook this morning.
"Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero. Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love. This was the last selfie we ever took together."
Daniel suffered from a rare form of connective tissue cancer known as spindle cell sarcoma. He was given just two months to live back in July but fought for an additional four. Our deepest condolences go out to Ashley and the rest of Fleetwood's family. May the force be with you always.
