The micro-USB charger is the hot pick of the season with most of the electronics manufacturers opting for it. Sony being no exception, has included the same for its latest hand-held gaming console, PS Vita 2000.
Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony World Studios tweeted Saturday that the latest PS Vita model can be charged with a regular micro-USB charger available with most of the smartphones. "You'll be glad: when using a PS Vita 2000, it can be charged [using a] smartphone Micro USB," Yoshida tweeted.
The micro-USB charger will add to the portability of the device as the gamers will not be required to carry the heavier charger available with the earlier PS Vita editions. The added feature is expected to give Sony an upper hand over its competitors like Nintendo and Google who launched their handheld consoles-2DS, 3DS and Quya in the market.
The Twitter post also showed off a new color option for PS Vita 2000 in a dual combination of white and yellow. PS Vita is also available in other colors like pink, gray, black, light blue and white. PS Vita 2000 does not have an impressive memory capacity with only 1GB inbuilt memory. However, there is an external memory slot provided that can be expanded up to 64GB, reveals a recent post on Slashgear. The latest PS console by Sony has LCD panel opposed to the earlier OLED screens. The gadget is said to be 15 percent lighter and 20 percent thinner compared to the earlier Vita editions. PS Vita 2000 comes with an improved battery backup, reports Engadget.
The PS Vita 2000 was announced last month at the Tokyo Games Show in Japan. The device is available only in Japan for now. The company has not come up with any date for its release in other regions.
