Azealia Banks is currently under criminal investigation for battery stemming from an altercation with a security guard at a Los Angeles karaoke club last month, according to TMZ. The news broke just hours after the hip-hop artist announced the cancellation of her upcoming November tour via social media on Monday.
"Hi guys, I'm very busy at work. Your coins will be refunded and I will be back in January. NYC, I'll see u on the 19th. XO - AB," the "212" rapper announced via Twitter.
Hours later, video surveillance footage surfaced that showed Banks and her crew involved in an altercation with two security guards at Break Room 86 in October, according to TMZ. The Harlem rapper reportedly got out of hand at the club and was asked to leave, but guards claimed she attempted to pull the fire alarm on her way out.
A security guard wrapped his arms around Banks, lifted her away from the alarm and a scuffle broke out between Banks, her crew and the security guard, according to video footage obtained by TMZ. Banks can be seen assaulting the security guard as a second security guard attempted to break up the fight.
The Los Angeles Police Department has opened an investigation against Banks for criminal battery, and it's not clear whether the investigation is the reason why Banks was forced to cancel her upcoming tour dates.
Banks tour was scheduled to kick off on Nov. 18 at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia and wrap up at the Dallas House of Blues on Nov. 28, according to Billboard.
