Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are combining comedy forces once again to host the 2014 Golden Globes after a very successful hosting gig in 2013.
The former Saturday Night Live duo brought in a 28 percent jump in the coveted 18-49 demo. EW reports the two have finally agreed to host not just this year but 2015's Golden Globe Awards as well. Speculation that the two funnywomen would return began almost immediately after last year's show ended and the critics began to roll out with positive reviews. Now it seems the hopes, rumors and speculation have finally come to fruition.
"We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight," Poehler said during last year's Globes. "Because as Ricky [Gervais] learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times."
Although the above statement was meant as a joke at last year's awards, it now seems to be coming true.
"Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season," said Paul Telegdy, NBC's president of Alternative and Late Night Programming. "We're elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years."
The duo will host the 71st Annual Golden Globe awards slated to air live on Sunday, Jan. 12 from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., according to USA Today.
