North America's most popular mobile dating application, Tinder, is rolling out new features including a "Super Like" for those that want to go beyond simply swiping right, according to USA Today.
The Super Like was implemented earlier this month and has since been used approximately 100 million times. The company claims that those that connections via the Super Like feature have conversations that last 70% longer than those that connect via a simple right swipe.
Other new features include the ability to add work history and education, and a modification of the application's learning algorithm to increase its ability to find compatible matches, according to Engadget. Furthermore, the message hub has been redesigned to allow to you keep track of recent conversations and recent matches more efficiently.
The biggest advancement in Tinder's new features is its use of machine learning, a type of computer learning that is becoming used more and more by sites including Facebook and Google, according to The Independent.
"With the updated algorithm, machine learning technology assesses and interprets the signals sent by our millions of users," said Ryan Ogle, Tinder's chief technology officer. "With our ears even closer to the ground, we provide users with the most relevant potential matches to result in more meaningful connections - just as we've seen with the introduction of the Super Like, which has increased the quality of matches and lengthened conversations."
