No love lost between Tom Cruise and former Scientologist, Leah Remini. The "Mission Impossible" star is "freaking out" about Remini's claims about the religion in her new memoir and recent press tour, according to Us Weekly.
"He thinks it's a major betrayal," an insider told Us Weekly.
The "King of Queens" star's book, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," chronicles the backlash she faced from the Church of Scientology when she decided to leave. It also included anecdotes about its most famous members like Cruise. Remini claims he reported her to the Church for inappropriate behavior during his wedding to Katie Holmes, which led to the group sending her to Florida for "reprogramming."
Holmes issued her own statement last month apologizing to Remini's for any past discretions, but was not specific.
"I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future," Holmes said in a statement provided to People by her publicist.
Cruise will most likely not follow suit with his ex-wife or take any action against her, according to Us.
"Leah is what the church calls a 'suppressive person,' so she's evil in his mind," the insider told Us. "He wipes the memory of any SP out of his life. He's letting the Scientology people discredit her."
The Church of Scientology responded to Leah Remini in a statement posted to its website.
"She needs to move with her life instead of pathetically exploiting her former religion, her former friends and other celebrities for money and attention to appear relevant again," the church wrote. "Sadly, bitterness and anger are common threads through Ms. Remini's life... Rather than take responsibility for self-inflicted problems, she is quick to blame others."
