A very special performance is set to take place on an upcoming episode of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," but the producers have shut down one major aspect of it.
The openly gay artist Who Is Fancy is set to debut his new song "Boys Like You," which is about a man falling in love with another man, with Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor on the show on Nov. 23, and he had a brilliant idea for a moving performance to go along with it.
Who Is Fancy's choreographer emailed "DWTS" producers, explaining that "it would be an awesome look to have 2 males dancing with each other," according to TMZ. Sources close to the show have said that after some discussion, a producer emailed back saying, "Apologies all but this is a definitive no from the network."
The network has said that "near dancing" between two men will be allowed during the performance, but two men cannot fully dance together. "Creative conversations are ongoing about the dance number," a high level source explained.
"Boys Like You" will be released that same day, and Grande and Trainor are excited to introduce Who Is Fancy to the world. "I love this song I love this song I love this song and I love you, Fancy," Grande captioned a photo. "So excited for your bright shiny future and to be a part of this. Let em have it @whoisfancy!!!"
"ITS TRUEEEE!! IM SO FREAKING EXCITED!" Trainor captioned a photo. "I met @whoisfancy in Nashville YEARS ago and fell in love! You are one of a kind Fancy, thanks for being such a good friend! You are a STAR and I am honored to be on this song with you and the AMAZING @arianagrande. Can't wait for the world to hear it! Love you both so much!"
