Kingdom Hearts 3 Release Date: Square Enix Reveals New Gameplay Trailer At D23 Expo; 'Toy Story' Reports Confirmed? (WATCH)

Square Enix officially released the "secret" "Kingdom Hearts 3" trailer revealed at D23 Expo Japan to the public.

On Monday, multiple reports stated a trailer was shown during the Disney expo, but there were no official confirmations. Instead, Square Enix and gaming websites focused on the release of "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX," set to launch exclusively for the PS3 in 2014.

In the midst of all the D23 announcements, Square Enix finally gave the world another sneak peak of the in development "Kingdom Hearts 3."

Check out the following description of the two minute trailer, according to GameRant.com:

In the trailer, players will notice that a lot of the gameplay from the first two Kingdom Hearts games appears to be relatively unchanged. Sora still battles the heartless with his Keyblade, and Goofy and Donald are around to lend a hand/wing where necessary. As far as updates/changes to the combat, Sora is also seen firing particles from his Keyblade - a nice visual effect - before the weapon eventually transforms into two pistols.

That particular sequence concludes with Sora riding on and attacking from what looks like Captain Hook's pirate ship from Peter Pan. It's unclear where exactly the ship comes from - whether it's a 'Summon' or something else - but it looks fantastic regardless.

In addition to the more traditional combat scenario, the footage also features a boss battle with a rock giant. In this battle, Sora, Donald, and Goofy are circulate around the enemy in a train car from Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride, jabbing at various weak points.

However, the trailer did not confirm the rumor "little green men" would be featured in the game, which was assumed to be a "Toy Story" reference. Still, the reports of a "secret" trailer turned out to be true, so fans can hold onto the hope of a "Toy Story" world in KH3.

"Kingdom Hearts III" has no set launch date, but will be available on the PS4 and Xbox One gaming consoles.
