Los Angeles avoided falling three games behind after a 3-0 win on Wednesday. A win on Tuesday would even the series at 2-2 and turn the tide in the Dodgers' favor.
"The playoffs are one-day momentum swings," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said, via ESPN. "Right now I feel like we've kind of grabbed it."
Ricky Nolasco (13-11, 3.70 ERA) will be asked to keep the momentum swung in Los Angeles's favor. Although Nolasco is slated to pitch on Tuesday, there's the possibility of him being bypassed in favor of starting Zack Greinke, ESPN reports.
"Until somebody says otherwise, I'm focused on going out there and pitching (Tuesday)," said Nolasco.
Assuming Nolasco remains the starter, the 30-year-old pitcher will hope to bounce back from his last three starts, where he posted a 12.75 ERA. In his two starts this season against St. Louis, Nolasco has two wins and a 0.75 ERA.
Lance Lynn (1-1, 7.11) takes the mound for the Cardinals. He had a weak outing against Pittsburgh in Game 2 of the NLDS, giving up five runs in 4 1/3 innings. The right-hander seemingly bounced back in the NLCS opener, when he came in as relief and pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win.
"Everything's different," Lynn said about the postseason. "With the extra off days and all that stuff, the playoffs are always going to throw off your normal routine, because you're used to playing every single day."
