Colts owner Jim Irsay reportedly doesn't believe head coach Chuck Pagano is the guy that can take them to multiple Super Bowls, according to Indianapolis reporter Bob Kravitz.
Kravitz said on Mad Dog Sports Radio that Irsay isn't satisfied with the Colts simply making the playoffs, and wants to see multiple Super Bowls during the Andrew Luck era. Indianapolis just had a huge win over the Denver Broncos this past weekend, but with a record of 4-5, Irsay is clearly not happy.
The Colts received more bad news this week when it was announced that their franchise quarterback would miss two to six weeks with a lacerated kidney. Luckily for the Colts, Luck does not require surgery, but it's just another issue the Colts will have to deal with this season.
Indianapolis has already fired offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, and it looks like Pagano will be next unless he can make the postseason and make a deep run in the playoffs. The Colts sit in first place in the AFC South, but a losing record isn't a confidence builder for any NFL owner.
While Pagano is likely out the door after this season, Kravitz was asked who he thought would be the next coach in Indianapolis. His response was Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Irsay will decide who the next coach of the Colts will be, and he wants someone that can lead his team to multiple Super Bowls.
"Jim Irsay is going to make the next coaching hire," said Kravitz, via Mad Dog Sports Radio. "If he brings in a guy who demands full power, like, say Nick Saban, who I think he's going after, if he brings in a Nick Saban, he's going to have full power and that means (general manager) Ryan Grigson will either be kicked to the curb or he'll have a different role in the organization."
The Colts have a manageable schedule in front of them, but without Luck it may be hard for them to even reach the postseason. Expect changes to come following the 2015 season, unless Pagano can somehow take this team on a deep playoff run.
