The 2015 Silver Slugger Awards were announced last night on the MLB Network. There were a lot of new faces taking home the accolade for the first time, but there was one familiar star that happened to make MLB history.
That man was Los Angeles outfielder Mike Trout, who earned his fourth consecutive Silver Slugger and became the youngest player at 24 years old ever to capture the award that many times.
Trout missed out on winning his first career Gold Glove Award, but after batting .299/.402/.590 with 104 runs scored, 41 home runs and 90 RBI, he was recognized as the best hitting center fielder in the American League. The 24-year-old led the AL in slugging percentage (.590) and OPS (.991). He was second in on-base percentage (.402) behind Miguel Cabrera and finished third in runs scored (104).
He's also a finalist for the AL MVP for the fourth straight season. He won the award in 2014 and finished second in 2012 and 2013.
Check out the rest of the winners below, including nine that earned the award for the first time in their careers. Those with an asterisk next to their name also won a Gold Glove earlier this week.
