Nexus 5 To Cost $399 , Nexus 4 LTE, Smartwatch On The Way

Rumors of Google coming up with its next generation Android smartphone, Nexus 5, later this month have been doing the rounds for quite some time. There are now reports of some websites carrying the prices of the two variants, 16 GB and 32 GB retailing at $399 and $499 , respectively.

Initially, it was believed that the successor to Nexus 4 would be offered at $299, half the price of the upcoming iPad by Apple to be revealed later this month. However, a recent post on Androidgeeks suggests that Nexus 5 will be selling at a higher price as Google plans to unveil the LTE edition of Nexus 4 starting at $299 at the same time.

The earlier leaks said that Nexus 5 will have the latest Android Kitkat version. The Google-LG smartphone is expected to sport a 5.2-inch display with a resolution output of 1080 pixels. The latest report on CNet specifies better display specs for the device, ( 1,920x1,080-pixel full HD display with a resolution density, 444 pixels).

In terms of hardware, the Google device will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. Nexus 5 will carry a decent battery life supporting a 2300 mAh battery accompanied by a wireless charging kit on the 16GB variant. The 32 GB Nexus 5 will be powered by a 3000mah battery. Both the variants may feature a 13 megapixel camera.

Google intended to launch Nexus 5 mid-October but the plans were delayed as it failed to get necessary government approval before the U.S. shutdown. The search giant has also deferred its smartwatch launch for the same reason.

The Nexus 4 LTE edition will come in two variants 16GB and 32GB. The device is expected to carry similar features as its predecessor with a slight change in internal storage capacity. The former version of Nexus 4 was only available in 8GB and 16 GB. The Nexus 4 LTE boasts a greater memory space but will retain the same price tag as the non-LTE edition.

The existing Nexus 4 holders can also upgrade to the LTE experience with the upcoming Android 4.4 version .This 4.4 Kitkat by default supports LTE, which will activate the 4G LTE chip inserted within the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset on Nexus 4, reports phonearena
