Yahoo! Fails To Win Over Hearts With Mail Redesign

Yahoo! Mail that received a new look on its birthday is causing some heartburn among users. The revamped design for Yahoo! Mail service has done away with certain features and also users are complaining about not being able to send or receive mails.

Nearly 5,200 Yahoo! Mail users have complained against the new look initiated last week.

The overhauled design replicates its biggest rival, Gmail. The refreshed look has removed the option for new tabs allowing users to open multiple messages from the inbox, reports Digitrends. Also the refreshed look does away with sort by sender option that helps to store the mails in a more organized manner. The users will no longer be able to access the folder files from the inbox and the delete button has been shifted down below the sender's name, giving a more cluttered look to the user interface. The new emails will no more appear in bold on inbox to notify the users.

The mails sent are often received after 24 hours. Few of the complaints posted on Facebook and Twitter have pointed to issues with the inbox getting auto formatted and the mal-functioning of the reply button.

One of the Yahoo mail users, Julia Serano tweeted,

total lost day work-wise due to @Yahoo's #yahoomailfail. format is awful, cant access things, plus it's super-duper-slow. blah! #yahoomail

Yahoo Mail has acknowledged the above problems and has assured a quick solution. The changes were much needed. "The recent design changes in Yahoo Mail are important steps to building a more modern and personalised version. We recognise that this is a lot of change and are actively listening to user feedback so we can continuously make improvements," said Yahoo in a statement, according to a recent post on CNet.

The refreshed design for Yahoo mail service has added a few tweaks like threaded email conversations, background themes, automatic forwarding and 1TB of storage but unfortunately failed to win over hearts. A few users have threatened to discontinue the service if Yahoo Mail does not resume its former version. One of the Yahoo Mail users, Purple T, posted on Twitter,

#YahooMail, give us back a useable mail service instead of this new crap! Classic Mail with tabs - Yahoo Feedback https://t.co/9kdDaWkIeu - PurpleT (@PurpleT100) October 9, 2013.
