When a tractor-trailer crashed in Nevada and killed 74 sheep, one surviving lamb went on a lam for several hours before officials finally caught it.
The lamb, which they named Dodger, has been adopted by a foster family, according to the Associated Press.
"We call her Dodger because of the traffic she survived on the highway," said Ann Inabnitt, supervisor at Boulder City Animal Control.
The truck driver was cited for speeding during the incident but was not hurt. His animal cargo, however, overturned. The animals inside began toppling over each other, causing injuries, cuts, broken legs and deaths.
"Unfortunately when these things happen, they smother each other," said Inabnitt, the Daily Mail reported.
Two holes had to be cut through the trailer in order to free the 250 sheep that were being transported from Cedar City, Utah, to Yuma, Ariz. for shearing.
Dodger is now living with a foster family that already houses a female goat.
"They have a big goat that has been by herself and when we put the lamb in there, they started rubbing against each other. It worked out. I wasn't going to allow her to be food," Inabnitt adds, according to Newsmax.
