An injured kangaroo made its way through the Melbourne Airport on Wednesday before two experts captured and removed the animal from a pharmacy at the domestic terminal.
Law enforcement officials closed the pharmacy while Wildlife Australia volunteers got the animal under control and tranquilized. According to the Telegraph, the eastern grey kangaroo completely shocked airport personnel, who said they had no idea how the animal got there.
"Oh, we weren't too sure, we had to look twice at it and Johnson didn't believe me," pharmacy employee Lisa Hou said.
"I was behind the counter, then Lisa said, 'Oh, there's a kangaroo in the shop,' and I just kept on doing what I was doing, yeah, I thought it was a bit of a joke," Hou's co-worker Johnson Law said.
The kangaroo appeared injured, and wildlife officials said the kangaroo was hit by a car earlier that day.
"He has got injuries to his feet at the moment," wildlife volunteer Ella Rountree told the Telegraph. "His claws are quite worn, that's from hopping down the tarmac and things like that."
The kangaroo has been named Cyrus, and was transported to a vet's office nearby for assessment and treatment.
