Joey Feek On Last Days With Cancer: 'I Don't Fear Anything'

Joey Feek, one-half of the country music husband and wife duo Joey + Rory, gave what may be one of her last interviews to local paper the Tennessean, People reported, where she opened up and shared intimated details about her last days as she prepares for the end of her battle with terminal cancer.

Feek, 40, was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer earlier this year, as previously reported by HNGN. After undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and a hysterectomy, her cancer returned and was so aggressive that doctors gave her an estimated six months to live. Now that she's stopped treatment, it's estimated that she has much less time.

"I wasn't mad at him, I wasn't upset," Feek told The Tennessean about her reaction with God after her cancer returned. "But God decided for me that my job of singing for people down here is my legacy, and he needs me singing up there. That's how I look at it."

At first, Feek wanted to spend the little time she has left on her farm near Nashville, Tenn. so she could pass away in the same room where she gave birth to her daughter, 20-month-old Indiana, according to the Tennessean. However, her condition worsened quickly, and she decided to living out her last days in her childhood home in Alexandria, Ind., where she is closer to family.

"I pray that one morning I just don't wake up," she said as she's facing the end of her cancer battle. "But I don't fear anything because I'm so close to God and we've talked about it so many times. I know he's close. And I know he loves me. I'm really at peace. I still believe there's healing in prayer."
