Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is reportedly intrigued in the University of Maryland head coaching position, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
While reports have come out stating that O'Brien is interested in the Maryland head-coaching job, other reports deny the claim, stating that O'Brien has no interest in the job, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. The Maryland Terrapins fired head coach Randy Edsall in October and have lost seven straight games.
Maryland is 2-8 on the season and lost to the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday 24-7. O'Brien coached previously as an assistant at Maryland, and he has experience in the Big Ten as a head coach at Penn State. The Texans head coach had a record of 15-9 as the head coach of the Nittany Lions, and he would be a huge hire if the Terrapins could get him.
The Texans are still very much alive for a playoff spot in a weak AFC South Division. Houston is 3-5 on the season and is looking to build momentum off their win over the Tennessee Titans. The Texans travel to Paul Brown Stadium to face the Bengals on Monday Night Football and have a difficult task against an undefeated Cincinnati team.
It's unclear if O'Brien is seriously interested in the Maryland coaching position, but changes could come for the Texans if they don't make the playoffs this season.
