It was announced earlier last summer that Donald Glover, one of the stars of NBC's cult hit show "Community" and the mind behind the rap persona Childish Gambino would be leaving his role as Troy Barnes five episodes into the series' fifth season. It was largely assumed that the actor/comic would be leaving the show in order to focus on his rap career. However, in a new series of Instagram photos, Glover made a small effort to explain his departure from the show.
The photos, seen in the slideshow above, were both deeply personal and laid a lot of the 30-year-old actor's insecurities and fears on the table.
"I'm afraid of the future," Glover writes on one note. "I'm afraid my parents won't live long enough to see my kids. I'm afraid my show will fail. I'm scared my girl will get pregnant at not the exact time we want. I'm scared I'll never reach my potential. I'm afraid she's still in love with that dude."
The actor got into a stream of personal confessions most beginning with "I'm" that he apparently wrote on stationary from his motel.
"I didn't leave 'Community to rap," he confessed. "I don't wanna rap. I wanted to be on my own. I've been sick this year. I've seen a bunch of people die this year. This is the first time I've felt helpless. But I'm not on that."
The posts have a lot to do with his rap career. He is planning to release an album this winter and clearly some of the people in charge of the release are differing from Glover's sensibilities in a lot of ways.
Check out the seven photos in our slideshow above and tell us what you think about the very personal notes from the comic/rapper/actor. Is this too much from a public figure or is it a refreshing dose of reality and personality from a popular persona.
