The New York Rangers visit the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. The game starts at 8 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast HERE or watch the live stream HERE.
Both teams are clawing to get out of their opening-season slump. New York (1-4-0) hopes to inch closer to a .500 record with a win at the Verizon Center. The Rangers have dropped three straight games while the Capitals (2-4-0) hope to build on their win from Sunday.
"We're not as confident as we should be, but a lot of guys got goals," Capitals coach Adam Oates said, via ESPN. "We feel better about ourselves and hopefully, that cures some of it."
Despite the slow start, Washington captain Alexander Ovechkin has managed six goals and six points, ESPN reports. Ovechkin will face a challenge against Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who's kept the Capitals scoreless in their last two meetings.
"There are going to be stretches when the puck is really big and stretches when the puck is a lot smaller," Lundqvist said. "At the same time, it can turn around for you pretty quickly."
Washington will look for redemption after squandering the series lead in last year's opening playoff round.
Washington defenseman John Erksine is questionable for the game after missing the last two because of an upper body injury; the Rangers will be without Rick Nash, who's now on the injured reserve list with a head injury.
