The smartwatch by Samsung also called Samsung Galaxy Gear has failed to win over the hearts with limited storage capacity and minimal apps. Ars Technica came up with a solution to the problem and detailed how the device can be hacked to get a couple of Android apps stored using the USB debug mode on the device.
The following steps are to be followed to get the favorite Android app on your device.
First of all the user needs to get the software Android SDK on the computer. Android SDK is a software that provides Application Programming Interface libraries and other necessary tools to debug or test any Android app on a device. Once the Android SDK is installed, the Galaxy Gear should be connected to its charger, also to be connected to the PC via USB. Once the Gear is recognized by the Android SDK the user may start downloading the favorite apps from Google Play Store and save the file on Android SDK followed by the required commands. After a few seconds the app will start appearing on the Galaxy screen and they are ready to use, reports knowyourmobile.
However, the procedure as suggested by the Ars Technicas does not clearly specify the exact command to be entered for rooting the device. The users can't store a greater number of apps with the limited storage capacity of 4GB. The 1.6 inch super sensitive screen on Gear makes it extremely difficult for the users to navigate through the apps. Even if the apps are downloaded some of them require internet connection that can't be self accessed on the product. The internet can be availed on the gadget only when connected via the smartphone. "While other wearables, like Google Glass, have full Internet access via Bluetooth tethering, the Gear is strictly an accessory when it comes to the Web. The paired smartphone contacts the Internet and passes notifications to the watch through the companion app, and that's it," reveals the report by Ars Technica.
Few of the apps can be installed only if the Android Programming Kit is pre installed on the device. APK helps in allocating the required software on the device for the apps to get stored safely.
