The Islamic State has threatened in a new video that countries that take part in airstrikes against Syria will suffer a similar fate as France, and made a particular aim at Washington, D.C. In the video, a man who was identified in subtitles as Al Ghareeb the Algerian, dressed in fatigues and a turban, conveyed the message to countries taking part in what he described as a "crusader campaign."
"We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington," the man said, according to Reuters.
John Brennan, the director of the CIA, said that Friday's attacks in Paris, which killed about 129 people and injured hundreds of others, should serve as a wake-up call for Americans.
"It's not just Europe. I think we (sic) here in the United States need to be obviously quite vigilant," he said while speaking at the Center for Strategic & International Studies Global Security Forum, according to ABC News. "Their agenda is to kill. Pure and simple."
