Google Photos Can Now Delete Pictures You Already Backed Up

Google is rolling out new features for its Android Photos app, including the ability to delete photos that have already been backed up in your cloud, according to Engadget. In addition to this handy tool, users can also delete photos stored on their phone's SD card from inside the app, as well as change photos to a lower quality resolution after they've already been uploaded in a high quality resolution, according to The Verge.

For users that want to take advantage of the new photo-deleting feature, simply look for the new button (which appears in the settings tab as of today) called "Free Up Space." Clicking the button will delete any local photos on your phone that have already been backed up to your cloud by the app. Although a similar option was available in the past for people who backed up their photos at full resolution, the feature is now available for anybody to use.

Although the "Free Up Space" option is not available for iOS users as of yet, there are numerous free apps for iPhone users available for download that function in the same way such as "Ice Cream" and "Room For More," according to TechCrunch.
