Amidst the heated protests, intellectual discussions, and economic talks brought about by the ongoing Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit held in the Philippines, netizens also looked at the lighter side of APEC: the coming together of two charming nation leaders.
#APEChottie has been trending on Twitter and Facebook since Tuesday, reported Reuters. Canada's new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who gained popularity for his charming personality, viral shirtless photo and charismatic lines such as "We need poets to change the world," is being pitted against Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, who possesses a healthy build, clean look, masculine aura and determined eyes.
Nieto arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday and was escorted by Presidential sister Kris Aquino to the Luneta Park, where he offered flowers to Jose Rizal, a Filipino hero and writer who fought against Spanish colonizers. Mexico and the Philippines are both former Spanish colonies, according to GMA News.
Trudeau arrived in the Philippines on the same day, and Philippine President Benigno Aquino III told him, "You have a lot of fans here," reported The Philippine Star.
Unfortunately for the ladies, both gentlemen are already married.
Finding joy and humor in serious and even stressful situations, such as the "APEC traffic" in the capital of Manila, is a way of dealing with stress in the country.
"#APEC2015 has caused too much aggravation and it's about time to look into the bright side of it #APEChottie," one Manila resident wrote in a post.
