Justin Bieber showed off his need for speed last night on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." The pop star and late night host were joined by "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and The Root's Tariq for the first annual Tonight Show NASCAR 500.
All four of the stars were teamed up with actual NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch for a relay race outside of 30 Rockefeller Center, where NBC headquarters is located in New York City.
Each team had four people on it: two stars and two race car drivers. Team Jimmy included the tandems of Fallon-Gordon and Ferguson-Truex, while Team Tariq was made up of Bieber-Harvick and Tariq-Busch. The cars that were used in the relay were not the types of cars the professional drivers were used to and looked more like spruced up golf carts than race cars.
"The first car from each team has to weave through these cones to the end of the lane, switch drivers without leaving their car and race down to the other end to tag in their teammates," explained Fallon of the relay race.
"I've gotta beat Bieber," a determined Tyler Ferguson told his partner, before stalling on the turn where he gave up the lead and allowed Bieber to beat him.
"I've learned a lot street racing," Bieber joked after his victory.
