Eagles Of Death Metal Release Official Statement After Paris Attacks, Says 'Love Overshadows Evil'

California rockers Eagles of Death Metal have released their first official statement via social media after the shooting at their concert in the Bataclan Theater during the Paris terrorist attacks on Nov. 13, USA Today reported. The band's merchandise manager, Nick Alexander, was among the 89 concertgoers who were killed during in the shooting after ISIS members opened fire in the concert hall.

"While the band is now home safe, we are horrified and still trying to come to terms with what happened in France," read the statement posted to the band's official Facebook page. "Our thoughts and hearts are first and foremost with our brother Nick Alexander, our record company comrades Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, and all the friends and fans whose lives were taken in Paris, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones."

The band was performing on stage at the 150-year-old venue on Friday night when gunshots rang out, according to the New York Times. The Bataclan, which holds about 1500 people, is a popular Parisian venue for rock bands.

Eagles of Death Metal lead singer and guitarist Jesse Hughes and drummer Julian Dorio quickly made it to safety that night, HNGN previously reported, and they went on to thank those who helped to protect them during the attack.

"We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the U.S. and French State Departments," the band's statement continued, "and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil."
