Samsung ATIV 9 Plus Update To Arrive in US in November: Includes Windows 8.1, Intel i7 Processor

Samsung launched its Windows 8 laptop series under ATIV brand in June. With the launch of Windows 8.1, the South Korean tech giant is updating ATIV 9 Plus with the latest operating system to be powered by Intel Core i7 processor.

The upgraded laptop carries nearly the same features as its predecessor with some tweaks. Windows 8.1 was rolled out this week and Samsung plans to incorporate the same on its lightest laptop, ATIV 9 Plus. However, the gamers will not be happy with the i7 update powered by the former i5 CPU as it will not be able to support high-end games, reveals a recent post on Ubergizmo.

The Samsung ATIV retains the older, sleeker body design with a storage capacity of 256GB alongside an 8GB RAM. This configuration was not available in the ATIV laptops for the U.S. buyers. The upgrade on ATIV 9 Plus will now offer the higher specifications to U.S. buyers.

The device will sport a QHD+ display (3200 X 1800) with Intel HD 4400 Graphics, backed by a 12-hour battery. The touch display appears to be livelier with the flexible view especially at 110 degrees, reports Slashgear. The laptop has super fast functionality. The system boots up within six seconds and wakes up from sleep in fewer than one second, reports connected digitalworld.

Samsung has powered it with its very own file management tool, Side Sync. It will allow users to share their files from PC to smartphones and vice-versa. The Side Sync reflects a virtual image of the mobile and the files can be transferred by simple drag and drop. The laptop also features Home Sync Lite, which transforms the PCs' hard drive into a personal cloud server. Users can access the files later on their mobiles irrespective of the location.

The upgraded ATIV is expected to arrive in the U.S. market by next month retailing at $1799.
