The Jacksonville Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans in week 11's Thursday Night Football game. The Jaguars come into this one at 3-6 while the Titans come in at 2-7. Typically with those records this late in the season this game wouldn't mean anything, but in the AFC South this season both teams are still very much alive for the division title especially with Andrew Luck expected to miss a couple of games.
The Jaguars come in just one game back of the Colts and Texans, who are tied for first place, while the Titans are just two back so this is a very big game for both sides.
The Jaguars have won two of their last three games and have been playing pretty well overall lately. Their last win over the Baltimore Ravens was controversial but they will certainly take it. Second year quarterback Blake Bortles has played much better so far this season as he has thrown for 19 touchdowns and over 2,300 yards but his completion percentage is still low (55.3 percent) and he has thrown 11 interceptions.
Bortles is helped out by his two really good wide receivers that are having great seasons. Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have each stepped it up this season and have more than 40 receptions, more than 690 receiving yards and seven touchdowns a piece.
Rookie running back T.J. Yeldon has had a pretty good rookie campaign as he is averaging four yards per carry with more than 500 yards rushing. He is currently dealing with a foot injury that has him questionable for the game but he is expected to play. Defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks was not quite as lucky as he is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn triceps muscle.
Unlike the Jaguars, the Titans haven't been playing great football as they have lost six of their last seven games since their season opening win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last week the Titans were beaten handily by the undefeated Carolina Panthers at home.
Rookie Marcus Mariota started his NFL career with a flourish in week one but he has come back down to earth since then. He is completing 66 percent of his passes but he only has thrown for 13 touchdown passes (eight in two games) to go with six interceptions and less than 2,000 yards. Mariota did miss two games earlier in the season but seems to be fully healthy now.
Running the ball has been a huge issue for Tennessee so far this season as none of their running backs, including Bishop Sankey and current starter Antonio Andrews, have really stepped up. The good news on that front is David Cobb should make his season debut on Thursday night. Cobb was on short-term IR with a calf injury and he is expected to be put right in the mix against the Jaguars.
The Titans will be missing some key players on defense in this one including cornerback Jason McCourty, nose tackle Al Woods and possibly cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson. The good news on the injury front is cornerback Perrish Cox may be back this week after missing last week's game with a hamstring injury.
