Two missing teenage sisters from Minnesota have been found after they disappeared in two-and-a-half years ago. They were found Wednesday in the White Horse Ranch in Herman, Minn., where police suspect that an underground support organization aided in hiding the girls, Fox 9 reported.
The girls, 17-year-old Samantha Rucki and 16-year-old Gianna Rucki, claimed in 2013 that their father, David Rucki, allegedly abused them physically and emotionally, but the father made accusations about their mother, Sandra Grazzini-Rucki, making their two daughters turn against him.
The sisters ran away during their parents' custody battle. Sheriff's authorities and U.S. marshals carried out a search for the two sisters on Wednesday.
"Both Samantha and Gianna were found safe and in seemingly good health," Lakeville police said, according to Reuters.
The two sisters will be held in a secure facility to undergo medical examinations. They will then proceed to Dakota County, where they will be reunited with their relatives.
Lakeville police Lt. Jason Polinski said that the investigators were able to reach the premises after gathering evidence from the house of a woman, Dede Evavold, in St. Cloud. Evavold is a supporter of the organization "Protective Parent," which believes that family courts are no longer functional and custody rights are usually given to the more abusive parent, according to The Star Tribune.
Gina Dahlen, the founder and president of the organization, resides in the ranch with her husband, Doug. "Broken children and hurting horses are able to bring each other to a place of healing through God's unconditional love," their website reads.
