Kelly Clarkson released an emotionally raw video for her song "Piece By Piece," the title track off her album that was released earlier this year, reported Us Weekly. The "American Idol" alum's new video even features a cameo from her adorable 17-month-old daughter River Rose.
The song is the third single off her latest album, and she takes the time to reflect on her nonexistent relationship with her father, a theme she's written about in previous songs like "Because of You." In the lyrics for "Piece By Piece," Clarkson revisits the issues with her father by comparing him to her husband, Brandon Blackstock.
"He never walks away, he never asks for money / He takes care of me, he loves me," Clarkson sings in the chorus.
The 33-year-old pop star explained the meaning behind her song in an interview with CBS' Gayle King earlier this week, discussing how Blackstock helped her deal with her father's abandonment.
"My husband came in my life and he's the complete opposite of how my father was," said Clarkson. "Well, he was present, he wins for being around."
She also gushed over how great a father Blackstock is in an interview with Glamour magazine earlier this year, saying she felt lucky to have him as a partner in raising little River.
"He's not an audience guy — he is onstage doing the work with me," Clarkson told Glamour. "He changes diapers, he stays up, and if I've had a late night, he'll wake up with her in the morning."
Baby River makes a cameo in her mama's video, during a shot where Clarkson is holding the adorable little girl in her arms and kisses her on the cheek. River smiles and then kisses her mom back.
