Russia Sends Puppy To France In Sign Of Solidarity (PHOTOS, TWEET)

Russia's Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev sent a letter Friday to France's Minister of Internal Affairs Bernard Kaznevu, offering a little Belgian Malinois puppy to the French police to fill the hole left when their beloved Diesel was killed last week in an anti-terror raid in Paris.

The offer is a "sign of solidarity" from Russia in response to the French police's posting of a picture of Diesel on Wednesday, stating "assault and explosives search dogs are indispensable in the missions of the operators of the Research, Assistance, Intervention and Deterrence (RAID)," according to USA Today.

Diesel, a 7-year-old Belgian Shepherd, was killed in the seven-hour siege and raid of a Paris apartment in which the suspected Paris bombing ringleader, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, was killed.

The new puppy, named Dobrynia, was named after a Russian hero representing strength, goodness, valor and altruism, all traits that belong to the incredible K-9s, including Diesel, on the RAID team, AKC noted. Kolokoltsev offered his sympathy when he acknowledged the loss of Diesel, stating that he hopes Dobrynia can fill his shoes.

The pup has some big shoes to fill, according to Fox News. The world is still grieving the loss of sweet Diesel.
