Alabama head coach Nick Saban is reportedly unlikely to return to the NFL next season, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
The Crimson Tide are currently ranked second in the College Football Playoff poll, and just won decisively this past weekend over Charleston Southern 56-6. The Indianapolis Colts have been reportedly interested in the Crimson Tide head coach, but it doesn't seem like Saban has interest in returning to the NFL.
Saban reportedly has more interest in rebuilding another NCAA program like Texas over returning to the league, according to La Canfora. There have been reports that Charlie Strong and the Longhorns could part ways after this season, but it seem almost crazy for Saban to leave a dominant SEC team for a struggling Big 12 program. Taking that into account, Saban's tenure at Alabama has been the longest of his career as a head coach, and he may want a challenge in turning around another historic program like Texas.
Saban has total control over the Alabama football program, and the only way he would likely make the jump back to NFL is if he had total control of operations. While Saban is probable to stay put in Tuscaloosa, Stanford's David Shaw and UCLA's Jim Mora could be targeted by NFL teams this offseason. The Crimson Tide face the Auburn Tigers this upcoming Saturday, and a win will put them back in a SEC Championship game. Saban is focused on Alabama's current season, but it will be interesting to see what happens after this year, as many teams will look to target the Crimson Tide head coach.
