Turtle Beach and Microsoft announced Friday that they are extending their partnership in an official release. The premium head set makers will partner Microsoft in creating innovative audio software and hardware for its next gen console, the Xbox One.
Microsoft had entered into a contract with the U.S. based headset manufacturer in May 2013, for an exclusive headset line up, the XO Four and XO Seven, for its next generation console.
But now it seems that Microsoft will not be able to supply the headset adapter line up for Xbox One by the time of the release.
The headsets were to be offered on the release of Xbox One but Turtle Beach has deferred the launch until next year. "We are very excited about the coming XBOX ONE launch and expect to continue to work closely with Microsoft to deliver the best audio products and capabilities for the XBOX ONE through 2014 and 2015," said Juergen Stark, CEO of Turtle Beach. "I know we will excite consumers with our new headsets in the coming months and I am looking forward to the launch of the XO FOUR and XO SEVEN in early 2014."
Turtle Beach supplied demo headsets at popular gameshows conducted by Microsoft for promoting Xbox One like Gamescom in Cologne, the Tokyo Game Show, PAX Prime in Seattle and also the road tour that took place across 75 market points in America and Europe last month.
In fact, the sale for Xbox One may take a hit for not offering the headset. "Turtle Beach is a key partner with Microsoft in the new Xbox One console platform," said Branden Powell, director of Strategic Alliances at Microsoft. "We are committed to our partnership with Turtle Beach and will continue to work together to create innovative audio solutions that support the Xbox One's advanced audio capabilities."
However, despite Microsoft not coming up with the headset adapters in time, gamers will be able to access the audio via the optical digital port on Xbox One, reveals a recent post on IGN.
Turtle Beach will be coming up with nine exclusive headsets for the console titles like Call of duty and Ghosts Marvel's Thor: The Dark World edition in the next 60 days.
