Fisker Automotive Co-Founder Henrik Fisker resigned from his position as Chairman of the company after "major disagreement" with other executives.
Fisker co-founded luxury plug-in hybrid manufacturer firm Fisker Automotive Inc in 2008. The 49-year-old, who was Chairman of the company, announced his resignation from the company Wednesday citing "major disagreements" with other executives as the reason for his sudden resignation.
According to an email sent by the auto designer, the resignation was effective from yesterday itself and confirmed the same over a telephonic interview, reports Bloomberg. The company is currently looking for investors and said Fisker's resignation from the company will not have any effect in their search for new investors.
"The company has a strong and experienced management team, and its strategy has not changed," the company said in its statement yesterday. "Mr. Fisker's departure is not expected to impact the company's pursuit of strategic partnerships and financing to support Fisker Automotive's continued progress as a pioneer of low-emission hybrid electric powertrain technology."
However, Ed Kim, an auto industry analyst for AutoPacific Inc. in Tustin, California, said the resignation doesn't come at a good time for the company as it only signals to the public more unrest and problems within the company.
The automotive company is struggling to stay in business and is seeking help from companies willing to help keep the company afloat. A report by Bloomberg News last month announced that Chinese carmaker Dongfeng Motor Corp. made an offer of $350 million, which would give them majority control of Fisker's company.
