If the words of Giovanni Gambino, son of infamous mobster John Gambino and an author of crime fiction, are to be believed, ISIS will face an additional, unexpected foe if ever it does initiate an attack on American soil. According to the mobster's son, the Islamic State better prepare if they attempt an attack on New York City, since the mob will be waiting for them, according to The International Business Times.
Gambino stated that the mafia is prepared to protect the people of New York if an attack is attempted in the coming days. "The world is dangerous today, but people living in New York neighborhoods with Sicilian connections should feel safe," he said.
"We make sure our friends and families are protected from extremists and terrorists, especially the brutal, psychopathic organization that calls itself the Islamic State," he said.
Gambino has been quite vocal about the real intentions of the Italian mafia in America. In a previous interview with NBC News in 2012, he even stated that the mafia is at a better position to protect the people of New York than the authorities, who usually fail to see the bigger picture, reports Western Journalism.
"The Mafia has a bad reputation, but much of that's undeserved. As with everything in life, there are good, bad and ugly parts - the rise of global terrorism gives the Mafia a chance to show its good side," he said during the interview.
If the words of the mobster's son are to be believed, it seems like ISIS will end up walking into a fight it has never signed up for.
