A Minneapolis "Black Lives Matter" protest turned deadly when alleged white supremacists opened fire on protesters Monday. Masked men wearing bulletproof vests infiltrated the crowd of protesters and at least one of the men opened fire, wounding five people.
Police stated they were searching for three masked suspect that fled the scene, and on Tuesday they apprehended two suspects, a 32-year-old Hispanic male and a 23-year-old white male. No information regarding the identity of the suspects is available.
"We are sparing no efforts to bring any and all those responsible to justice," Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said, according to the Washington Post.
At least one of the victims has returned to the protest. Wesley Martin said that he was attempting to escort people away and confront the gunmen when he was shot in the leg, US News reported.
The protests began after shooting death of 24-year-old Jamar Clark. Clark, a suspect, was shot during a confrontation with police. Several witnesses said that police restrained Clark and there was no reason for police to shoot him.
"One of the cops had his knee in his back and the other cop was kind of straddling him in an awkward type position. But they had complete control of him. I didn't see him fighting, I didn't seem him resisting," said barbershop owner Teto Wilson, according to CNN.
