NFL: Philadelphia Eagles, Chip Kelly Relationship Deteriorating? Report Suggests Kelly May Not Return Next Season

Strap yourselves in Eagles fans. It's about to get bumpy. ESPN's Adam Schefter went on Sirius XM on Tuesday and said that "momentum and signs" seemed to be "piling up against a Chip Kelly return to Philadelphia" (h/t to Jimmy Kempski of The Philly Voice).

Considering Schefter's one of the most plugged-in members of the NFL media, that's no small statement, though he did state that it was his "read, from afar."

Schefter went on to add that he believes the two sides are getting "sick of each other." Now, Schefter doesn't seem to be indicating that Kelly and the Eagles are necessarily sick of each other, more that the fans are sick of Kelly - which, after a 4-6 start to his third season as head coach, first as the personnel czar, is somewhat understandable, considering he's yet to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs - and Kelly may be sick of the "situation."

What he means by the "situation" is difficult to discern, but what isn't, is that Schefter is clearly insinuating that something may be bubbling under the surface in Philly where Kelly's future is concerned. Schefter made clear that once the season ends, Kelly is someone he'll be keeping his eye on as the NFL carousel turns.

Schefter even went so far as to suggest that Kelly may be "more comfortable elsewhere."

Mic drop.

For his part, Kempski wouldn't say that he's hearing Schefter's report was accurate, but did state that "based on conversations" he's had with people "close to the team," Schefter's report was neither surprising, nor completely out of left field.

Make of that what you will Eagles fans, but something clearly isn't right in Philly.
