Samsung Galaxy S4 is getting the latest Jelly Bean update, Android 4.3, but only for international GT-I9505 models. Other markets including the U.S. will receive the update in the coming weeks.
It is official now! Samsung, the world's largest smartphone maker, is finally getting the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for its Galaxy S4 smartphones. Currently, the update will not be seen across all the devices but only in the international GT-I9505 models. This means it won't be too long before the global Galaxy S4 gets the software update. So it would be wise to look out for a word from your wireless carrier in the weeks to come.
Samsung had earlier promised at its Mobile UNPACKED event that the Android 4.3 rollout will begin in October. Keeping its word, Samsung has started off with the GT-I9505 international models.
According to SamMobile, the latest update is mainly focused on under-the-hood tweaks rather than visual changes. But the change is for the better as the device gets a much improved performance.
Firstly, the 4.3 Jelly Bean update brings integrated support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, ANT+, and OpenGL 3.0, like the Galaxy Note 3. In addition, the updated Galaxy S4 is much faster, thanks to the TRIM support. The overall update includes some of its own apps and services including Samsung Wallet and its security software, Knox.
The exterior looks much sharper and the default TouchWiz launcher is more responsive with less lag and stutter. The update also includes a new Samsung Keyboard and tweaked browser with default full screen mode and new interface. The device will also impress hardcore readers as some apps adopt the new reading mode, which adjusts the screen light for reading purpose.
Besides, the new update also packs few minor changes to improve the S4 performance, which will be detailed in the company's changelog.
