Samsung Galaxy S5 Reportedly Sports Eye Scanning Technology To Unlock Device

Samsung is reportedly working on a new eye-scanning technology, which will be integrated in to its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5.

As Samsung Galaxy S5 release date nears, it is getting better and better. At least this is what the rumored specifications of the upcoming Samsung smartphone suggest. So far, the details on the yet-to-be announced Galaxy S5 have been scanty, but several reports have hinted an early launch at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014. This event will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from Feb 24 to Feb 27 .

The fight to stay ahead in the race never ends, at least in the smartphone market. Apple introduced the fingerprint technology in its latest iPhone 5S model, but Samsung will take the competition to the next level by bringing the eye scanning technology to its smartphone. We are not sure how far the news is true but Androidsas, citing sources familiar with the matter and Korean reports, suggests otherwise. Hoping the technology is in the works, it would be one of the most anticipated smartphone features of the year.

The eye-scan technology integrated into Galaxy S5 will improve the security on the device. In addition to the Knox security software on current Samsung models with Android 4.3, the new eye scan will seal all possible ways to bypass security. But it would be presumptive to think the new technology will assure complete protection in light of recent events involving Apple and HTC's fingerprint sensors manipulation.

Besides this latest news, earlier reports suggest that the Galaxy S5 will sport a 64bit Exynos CPU and the camera will be more advanced than the ones seen in current smartphone models. The S4 will also bring the company's highly marketed Android 4.4 Kit-Kat.
