The St. Louis Rams reportedly lost quarterback Sam Bradford for the season due to a torn ACL sustained on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. A source close to the Rams told the NFL Network that the club is now discussing signing free agent quarterback Tim Tebow.
Multiple sources, including NFL.com and ESPN, report Bradford has a torn ACL. The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter during a scramble in Sunday's 30-15 loss to Carolina. With Bradford likely out for the season, the discussion has turned to finding a replacement.
The Rams are expected to work out several quarterbacks on Monday, according to NFL.com. Another report, from NFL Media columnist Michael Silver, claims the "Rams have discussed signing Tim Tebow."
Silver did qualify his report as "unlikely" that the Rams would actually sign Tebow. Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch also said Tebow "is not coming to St. Louis."
Still, the Rams could consider extending a workout invitation to Tebow. If the unemployed quarterback impresses, he'd at least have a chance to wrestle the starting job away from the Rams' incumbent backup quarterback, Kellen Clemens.
With only one healthy quarterback on the roster, it's a given the Rams will bringing somebody in this week.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported the Rams would likely look at Matt Leinhart, Tyler Thigpen and John Skelton. Although Vince Young is also a free agent, King believes a reunion with Rams coach Jeff Fisher is improbable.
Since being released by the Patriots in August, the market has been quiet for Tebow. The 26-year-old was spotted in September working on his throws at the University of Southern California. Last week, Tebow was seen vacationing in Hawaii.
