Indianapolis Colts Rumors: Reggie Wayne Tears ACL Against Broncos, Andrew Luck Blames Himself; Free Agent WRs?

Indianapolis Colts' receiver Reggie Wayne reportedly tore his ACL in Sunday's win over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. With Wayne now likely out for the season, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck blames himself for the accident.

A wide-open Wayne awkwardly tried to turn back for a pass underthrown by Luck in the fourth quarter. The veteran receiver instantly collapsed on the ground and held his right knee.

The underthrown ball will likely cost Wayne his season.

"Colts doctors initially diagnosed torn ACL for Reggie Wayne; everyone hoping for a miracle as he goes into MRI on right knee," ESPN's Chris Mortensen tweeted early Monday morning.

After the game, Luck blamed himself for Wayne's injury.

"I put a lot of blame on myself for missing him," Luck said, via ESPN. "I don't think there was anyone within a square mile of him."

Wayne is one of the few holdovers from the Manning days in Indianapolis. The veteran receiver, renowned for his work ethic, has played in 189 straight games and is a leader in the locker room.

"He's our leader, a vet and just tough to see him go down that way," Colts safety Antoine Bethea said, via ESPN. "Hopefully it's not too serious and he can get back to us."

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted: "Prayers and much love for #87 Reggie...let's pray his right knee gets miracle news!!!!!! Love that man and pray for good news!!!!!!"

T.Y. Hilton, Darrius Heyward-Bey and David Reed are now Luck's best options in the Colts' receiving group. It's possible Indianapolis may look to sign a free agent this week if Wayne is indeed out for the season.
